Aweome weekend!

Wow, what an awesome weekend at Lake Monroe! We stocked that load of channels last week and Saturday night, we added a load of bullheads to the small back lake, plus a small load of carp to the big lake! There were only 900 lbs of carp but they looked great, several in the 18-25lb range. We tagged a couple and are excited to open the jackpots in April! There was a gorgeous 47+lb shovelhead caught on Saturday afternoon by Charlie Riddell...check out the website or our facebook page for photos! It looks like it's going to be a great season! See you at the bait house!

Tomorrow is looking like it's going to be a beautiful day! And we are ready! We stocked a load of channel cats on Wednesday so they should be good and hungry by Saturday morning! Our new cash register system should be up and running by tomorrow as well! The kitchen should be 90% stocked with all the usual favorites so come on out and see us this weekend!

A soggy beginning!

Well, opening day has come and gone...but the rain just keeps coming! Despite the constant downpour, there were 17 hearty fishermen braving the chilly, wet conditions to kick off the 2010 season at Lake Monroe. The water temps are still a little on the cool side with the big lake temperature hovering just below 52 degrees. Nonetheless, there were several trout, some channel cats, and a number of carp caught. Looks like the big blues and shovels are slow to wake from their Winter nap this Spring! The only blue caught so far was about a 18 pounder caught earlier in the week. The weatherman says warmer temps this coming week with 60s all next weekend...that should get them moving! Don't miss out... we're open next Saturday and Sunday from 8a-6p! Stop Wishin' & Come Fishin'!!

Just a week away!

Wow, FINALLY! Opening Day at Lake Monroe is just a week from tomorrow! We have been SO busy getting ready so everyone who we have been missing will be right at home when they show up to wet a line!

I just got the scale back from Fairbanks Scale where they overhauled and calibrated it. I asked them to determine if our scale is accurate or if we need to buy a new one...the commercial heavy duty ones that read to the degree that ours does are very expensive so I was nervous about the outcome....but the salesman was sad to report to me that our scale weighs as accurately as it did the day it was purchased brand new! YEA...don't need to buy a new one this year!
