Final preparations are under way!
OK, so maybe I jumped the gun on that nearly 50' day that we had....because it's been below freezing ever since! Oh well...we're still plunging ahead, preparing for March & fishing season! I have been working on getting the scale ready...ensuring it is completely calibrated prior to the first fish weigh in! Also shopping for some upgraded equipment...will post more on that later after I work out the details and see if the improvemnts are feasible with our current scale or if we need to purchase a whole new set up...I think the fishermen will like the updates! Planning to make a trip to pick up a tackle order next week...things are really kicking into high gear now! I'm really excited for opening day!

Wow! It's 48' outside today! It still feels cold from the temperature coming off the snow but it is inspiring to know that it's trying to warm up! I checked the 10 day forcast on the weather channel web site and the 1st & 2nd of March it's supposed to hit the low 40's. Not as warm as I'd like, but since our planned opening day is 3/13, that'll give it almost another two weeks to heat up. The average hi temp for March 13 is 51.....I can live with that! I feel like I'm consumed with the weather right now, but when you're waiting for the fishing season to start up, that stays constantly on my mind! Hopefully a couple more weeks and it won't matter!

Lakes are still solid!
Still solid ice! UGH! But I'm moving ahead with plans and preparations for a great fishing season...snow or no snow! We contacted our hauler yesterday and placed an order for 3000 pounds of big carp! That load should be arriving in Mid March. He committed to the whole load being between 15 and 35 pounds! That should make for an awesome tournament on April 11th. I'm really excited about many of the changes we have made this year, tweeking things to make improvements is an ongoing process and I really enjoy the feedback from all the fishermen who want to help us make Lake Monroe the perfect fishing spot!

Fishermen hate snow?
Do all fishermen hate snow or is it just me? I didn't always hate snow....actually just a few short weeks ago, I was eager for the white stuff to pile up....but now I'm over it! I've been doing everything I can behind the scenes to prepare for the upcoming (not soon enough) fishing season at Lake Monroe, but I'm READY to open for the season! That's hard to do with several inches of ice on every lake, not to mention the foot or more of snow blocking the driveway!
Once we do get past this weather, we will be ready! I'm really excited about the tackle we're getting in for this year! The 2010 stuff is awesome and we are still going to carry the old favorites from years past. I've already had folks who have their tax return cash in hand who have come by to be the first ones to stock up on this years hot buys! I guess it's never too early, and with the weather outside so rotten, at least you can pass the time rigging your new rods and anticipating the upcoming season!
